HONEY
Honey has been used since ancient times both as a food and as a medicine. Apiculture, the practice of beekeeping to produce honey, dates back to at least 700 BC. For many centuries, honey was regarded as sacred due to its wonderfully sweet properties as well as its rarity.
In addition to its reputation as Nature's nutritive sweetener, research also indicates that honey's unique composition makes it useful as an antimicrobial agent and antioxidant.
Honey is "manufactured" in one of the world's most efficient factories, the beehive. Bees may travel as far as 55,000 miles and visit more than two million flowers to gather enough nectar to make just a pound of honey.
The quality and purity of honey depends on the plants and environment from which pollen, saps, nectars and resins are gathered and how carefully the honey is extracted and processed.
Our honey is produced by cooperatives of small beekeepers located in the pristine region of Northeast Brazil.. We work and directly benefit more than 2000 rural families. By working directly with the beekeepers, we have control of the product throughout the entire production cycle, from the hive to the port. We process the honey in new modern facilities, using state-of-the art equipment, rigorous quality controls standards and HACCP.
We offer natural bulk conventional honey, certified organic honey, certified FLO fair-trade and IBD eco-social honey in food-grade steel drums.
